For me, the art of documenting these celebrations begins with curiosity. It's about looking beyond what is expected, recognizing the relationships and emotions unfolding naturally, and discovering how light, architecture, movement, and composition can transform a fleeting experience into something lasting.
Throughout my career, I've been invited to photograph and film remarkable private celebrations, from intimate gatherings to elaborate productions in extraordinary destinations. Whether creating a single fine art photograph or a cinematic interpretation of an entire evening, I approach each commission with the same intention: to honor the experience while creating something that feels personal, authentic, and enduring.

Some celebrations are imagined on an extraordinary scale, where architecture, lighting, entertainment, and atmosphere come together to create an experience unlike any other.
For a private milestone birthday celebration at a residence in Northern New Jersey, an elaborate tented environment was transformed through dramatic lighting, immersive design, and unexpected performances, including synchronized swimmers. As the evening unfolded, the setting became a constantly changing canvas of color, movement, and human connection.
My approach was to explore the celebration through both photography and cinematography, capturing the grandeur of the environment alongside the spontaneous expressions, intimate interactions, and fleeting moments that give an occasion its personality.
The resulting photographs and film offer two complementary interpretations of the same remarkable evening, preserving not only how the celebration looked, but something of what it felt like to be there.

An Intimate Celebration in the Malibu Hills

At Cielo Vineyards in Malibu, a gathering of family and friends unfolded against the beautiful backdrop of the Santa Monica Mountains. Thoughtfully arranged tables, garden-inspired details, and warm California light created an inviting setting for an afternoon that gradually transitioned into an evening beneath the stars.
As a photographer, I'm drawn to the relationships between people and their surroundings. The details that reveal someone's personality, the conversations that happen naturally, and the changing light that transforms a familiar scene into something extraordinary.

From the theatrical elements of the casino experience to the spontaneous interactions between guests, my focus was on capturing the personality of the celebration. A Bar or Bat Mitzvah is more than a celebration. It is a meaningful passage in a young person's life, bringing together family, faith, tradition, and the excitement of what lies ahead. It is a moment when generations come together, honoring the traditions of the past while celebrating the promise of the future.
I approach these occasions with an appreciation for both their significance and their individuality. Every family has its own story, and every young person brings a unique personality to the experience. From the anticipation before the ceremony and a quiet portrait in the synagogue to the proud expressions of parents and grandparents, these are moments that deserve to be remembered with care.
And then there is the celebration itself. Beautifully designed spaces, imaginative themes, music, dancing, and the unmistakable energy of friends coming together create an entirely different dimension of the story. I enjoy capturing the extraordinary details that event planners bring to life while remaining attentive to the spontaneous interactions and genuine emotions unfolding throughout the evening.
