These days the camera can create so much more than meets the eye, and my digital works of art combine state of the art imaging and creative thinking together to take you someplace, and the only way to get there is through me. From film animations to still image mind warps, I create some pretty interesting works that encapsalates a place, and most often a feeling.
As a city filled with texture, Florence has a special place in my heart. I've created numerous works from this famed city, but this is one of my favorites. Study it and you will find yourself on top of the Belvedere Hotel overlooking the Duomo, inside a cathedral, and in the city streets where the gargoyles beckon you to look deep from within.
It was 1902, and at 20 floors it rose to the heavens as one of the tallest buildings in all of Manhattan. We can pretty much bet on the fact that at the time, Daniel Burnham could never have pictured it quite this way, although his Renaissance palazzo in Beaux-Arts styling would become an iconic symbol of New York City anyway. I’ve past the Flatiron over and over just about every hour of the morning and night, and even I never saw this coming. A work of art created with a digital camera, along with a deep unending thought process of fine art manipulation. Much like a painting, I never know when to stop before I ruin a perfectly good idea. However, this is where I ended my deep etherial blurs, burns, and styling to remix a building with an imagination that stands the test of time.
I found a sandy cay while sailing through the Caribbean Islands and dropped anchor off shore to spend the night. We took the Dinghy ashore before sunset and hiked through the forrest coming upon a cliff as waves crashed onto the shores. We were all alone without a soul in sight. Imagine the things you might find....
I have a unique way of overlapping the artistic processes, and combine my skills on the video, and time lapse, front with my artist vision to create very unique animations. These can be beautifully presented in a themed gallery exhibit coinciding with by digital art. There are a multitude of ways to think creatively animation, but I find it particularly interesting because these are created from real life subjects.
